Monday, June 20 – Day 1 (travel day)
Our flight from SFO to LAX was uneventful. We met up with two other delegations at the airport – one elementary group and one junior high group - that were also headed to Sydney. Unfortunately, our flight from LAX to Sydney was delayed until Tuesday morning… or so we thought! The whole group of People To People ambassadors ended up staying overnight at the Sheraton. They knew what they were talking about when they said to pack a change of clothes… JUST in case!
Tuesday, June 21 – Day 2 (Disney)
Today we woke up early, packed our things, and had a lovely breakfast at the Sheraton… only to find out that our flight had been delayed further – until 1:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 22. Our disappointment was reversed once we found out what our alternative activity would be. By 11:30 we were all on charter busses headed towards DISNEYLAND!It was a beautiful day in southern California and it was a great way to get over our additional delay in departure. We went on rides, had a pizza lunch inside the park, and walked around the park. Before we knew it we were back at the hotel to get ready for our 1:00 a.m. flight. Showers were had by all and we changed back into our People To People polos and travel pants.
We got through security easily, played some cards, and were on our gigantic plane, seatbelts on, and ready to go by 1:00 a.m. The flight was long but easy… they fed us well.Just after 9:30 a.m. we were on the ground.Going through customs was a cinch and we were off to the Blue Mountains for our first adventure!
